Discovering NE Stone Walls, Jan. 17
January 8, 2018Why are we so fascinated with stone walls? Kevin Gardner author of “The Granite Kiss,” explains how and why New England came to acquire its thousands of miles of stone walls in a presentation Wednesday, Jan. 17 at 6:30 p.m. at Taylor Community’s Woodside Building. The program is made possible by grant funding through the New Hampshire Humanities Council and is free and open to the public.
Gardner will also focus on the ways in which stone walls and other dry stone structures were built; how their styles emerged and changed over time; and their significance to the famous New England landscape.
During his presentation, Gardner will build a miniature wall or walls on a tabletop using tiny stones from a 5-gallon bucket.
