Established PSU Musicians Coming in March
February 26, 2015The next program in the Taylor Community Music Series, sponsored by Bank of New Hampshire, is scheduled for Sunday, March 15 at 3 p.m. in Taylor’s Woodside Building, 435 Union Ave. The event is free and open to the public.
The concert features mezzo soprano Emily Jaworski, who joined the voice faculty at Plymouth State University in the fall, 2012 and Dr. Daniel Perkins, professor of music and director of choral activities at PSU. Music will include selections by David Conte, Claude Debussy and Joseph Haydn. Their performance is generously being sponsored by Taylor Community Resident Barbara Harris.
Ms. Jaworski is establishing a reputation for excellence in performances across New England. She’s a passionate advocate of art songs and can frequently be seen in recital with Calvin Herst at the piano. Her love of research, dedication to musical details and commitment to text leads to unique and captivating programs. Jaworski and Herst have been honored with numerous awards for their collaborations. Ms. Jaworski can also be seen gracing the operatic stage and is known for her engaging portrayals of a wide range of characters.
Doctor Perkins was honored as the 2011 American Choral Directors Association New Hampshire Choral Director of the Year. He holds the degrees Doctor of Musical Arts and Master of Music in Choral Music from the University of Southern California, and Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from Brigham Young University.
He is currently Music Director and Founder of the New Hampshire Master Chorale, Music Director of the Manchester Choral Society, and principal guest conductor and director of choral activities for the New Hampshire Music Festival. He is active as a guest conductor and clinician throughout the United States and abroad. His choirs have performed and studied throughout the world. Perkins is a co-founder, with Dr. Trish Lindberg, of the award-winning Educational Theatre Collaborative, and pianist for Trio Veritas.
