Free Diabetes Self-Care Classes
March 18, 2016Laconia, NH – Healthcentric Advisors, the New England Quality Innovation Network-Quality Improvement Organization (NE QUIN-QIO), is offering free diabetes self-management classes. Classes will be conducted in an interactive workshop format, and are two and a half hours in length weekly for six consecutive weeks.
A class is scheduled to begin Friday, April 1 at 10 a.m. in Taylor Community’s Woodside Building. Please call Rachel Eichenbaum, 573-0915, to register or with questions.
Subjects covered will include techniques to manage the symptoms of diabetes; appropriate exercise for maintaining and improving strength and endurance; healthy eating; appropriate use of medication and working more effectively with health care providers. Participants are encouraged to develop weekly action plans to address the issues they face.
Similar workshops are held in communities throughout New Hampshire. Medicare or Managed Medicare beneficiaries with diabetes and pre-diabetes, and those who are dually eligible or who have both Medicare and Medicaid with diabetes and pre-diabetes, are encouraged to participate.
Class dates are Friday, April 1; April 8, April 15; April 22; April 29 and May 6 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.at Taylor Community.
