Trips have descriptors: Easy, Moderate and Independent to indicate the degree of mobility (walking, standing, stepping, etc.) required in order to safely participate and enjoy the trip.

Please note: There is a $10 fee charged for trip cancellations. If a trip requires prepaid tickets or entry fees, you can’t be reimbursed if you cancel from the trip OR if Taylor needs to cancel due to weather conditions that make driving unsafe. Non-residents pay a $10 fee for going on Taylor Trips.

Saturday – June 7 – An Evening of Music and Refreshments at the Belknap Mill. Relax to music by Gathering Time, a New York-based trio, and guest vocalist Mary Levine. Local restaurants will supply baked goods, fruits, vegetables and dip, crackers and cheese as well as a variety of drinks. This event starts at 7 p.m.  Tickets had to be purchased in advance, so please check with Sue Williams for ticket availability at this time.  The bus will begin picking up residents on the Laconia campus at 6:30 p.m. (Easy)

Saturday – June 14 – The Third Annual Wings, Water & Wheels Open House at the Laconia Airport. There’s so much to see, like Wright Museum WW II vehicles, antique cars, planes, helicopters and more.  This event falls on Flag Day and the theme this year is “Honoring Our Heroes” so the airport is taking this time to invite any Veterans or anyone in military service to attend. There will be a Gilford PD K-9 Demonstration, Gunstock Segway Rides and Made in New Hampshire Craft Food and Drink Vendors.  Bring a hat, sunscreen and sunglasses as well as money for lunch and any other purchases you may make.  You may want to bring a light folding chair just in case you need to rest. The open house starts at 10 a.m. and goes until 2 p.m.  The bus will begin picking up residents on the Laconia Campus at 9:15 a.m. to ensure good parking. (Easy to Moderate – walking the exhibits).

Monday – June 16 – Ride to Sugar Hill to see the Lupine Fields with lunch at Polly’s Pancake Parlor. Summer welcomes the beautiful fields of wild lupine – blues, purples and pinks.  Just beyond the gift shop there are mowed paths that allow visitors to literally “walk among the flowers.”  You can explore the Sugar Hill Sampler Gift Shop before a yummy home cooked meal at Polly’s Pancake Parlor.  After lunch we will stop at Harman’s Cheese and Country Store, known for old-fashioned quality, reasonable prices and personal service.  The store might be small but it is full of unusual items and you will not want to leave without purchasing some of the best aged cheddar cheese. The bus will begin picking up residents on the Laconia Campus at 9 a.m. and will make a convenience stop at the Ashland Burger King off Route 93 at approximately 10:15 a.m. (Easy to Moderate  ?  some stairs)

Friday – June 20 – Breakfast at Griddle in the Middle followed by a visit to the American Police Motorcycle Museum with a stop at Sawyer’s Dairy Bar on the way home. This is the only restaurant where the tables have griddles in the middle.  Make your own pancakes with a large choice of things to add to your pancake or make yourself an omelet.  Just have fun with it.  The Motorcycle Museum is the only museum in the country chronicling the history of the motorcycle policeman.  There are 49 motorcycles on display from 1912-2005; a movie theater that shows early police motorcycle training films; a workshop and a uniform timeline. Service men and women in uniform and a guest will be admitted free of charge. There is an exhibit featuring a WW II Jeep and a 1941 Indian Motorcycle that was specifically designed for military use.  Our last stop will be Sawyer’s Dairy Bar. This popular restaurant has been a family tradition since 1945. This season they celebrate their 69th year.  Whether you order the famous Lobster Roll or an ice cream cone you won’t be disappointed.  The bus will begin picking up residents on the Laconia campus at 8:30 a.m. (Easy)

Monday – June 23 – View the Master Sand Sculptures on Hampton Beach with lunch at Ashworth by the Sea Restaurant. The “Viewing Area” is a cement boardwalk that gives spectators a close-up view of the sculptures.  Shop in many of the beach stores across the street before lunch.  Please bring a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and yes, an umbrella just to be on the safe side.  There will be a stop at Johnson’s for dessert on the way home.  The bus will begin picking up residents on the Laconia Campus at 9 a.m. and will make a convenience stop in Alton Bay around 10 a.m. (Moderate)

Friday – June 27 – The Lakeport Freighthouse Museum will be our first stop followed by a visit to Pepi Herrmann’s Shop with lunch at the Lobster Pound Restaurant before returning to campus.  The 1889 freighthouse has been historically rehabilitated through the hard labor and fund-raising efforts of the Lakeport Community Association.  It houses memorabilia of Lakeport and the Boston & Maine Railroad.  Pepi Herrmann came to the United States in 1968.  He has more than 40 years of experience and is one of the few master Crystal Cutters in the United States.  Over the years he has built a reputation for quality workmanship and is a tireless and dedicated artisan.  Our last stop will be for lunch at the Lobster Pound restaurant in Weirs Beach.  You can choose from light to full fare menu items specializing in seafood, steak and Italian selections.  Heart healthy options are always available.  Top off your meal with a homemade dessert prepared daily by the house pasty chef.  The bus will begin picking up residents on the Laconia Campus at 9:30 a.m. (Easy to Moderate – steps into the Freighthouse)  

Monday – June 30 – Dining Out at Fratello’s Italian Grille. In 1992, the owners of the Homestead restaurants purchased the vacant Indian Head bank building in Laconia, NH. The historic brick bank building did not fit the theme for another Homestead location so the McDonough family went to work on developing a new theme.  The end result was Fratello’s Italian Grille, a casual Italian-American restaurant featuring wood-fired brick oven pizza, steaks, seafood and Italian favorites.  The bus will begin picking up residents on the Laconia campus at 4:45 p.m. (Easy)
