Our Memories: How Reliable Are They? RESCHEDULED
February 1, 2013
NOTE: DUE TO THE SNOW STORM, THIS PROGRAM HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED FOR MONDAY, FEB. 18 AT 11 A.M.
We’ve all experienced forgetting in our lives and have observed that human memory is imperfect. Yet, certain memories remain vivid for many years. However, the vivid memories we confidently remember may disagree with those of a sibling or spouse. Join us Monday, Feb.18 at 11 a.m. in Taylor Community’s Woodside Building as Dr. Angela Kilb of Plymouth State University discusses memory research.
Doctor Kilb will show how easy it is to implant a false memory, as well as the implications this has on everyday life, including the impact of false memories on eyewitness testimony. She received her PhD in Cognition and Neuroscience from the University of Missouri, where she studied the effects of aging and divided attention on memory performance. She is currently an assistant professor at PSU and the director of the Lifetime Learning Laboratory.
The program is part of collaboration between Meredith Village Savings Bank, Taylor Community and Plymouth State University, designed to bring educational and entertaining programs to Taylor residents and the greater Lakes Region area.
This performance is free and open to the public. Space is limited, so please make reservations by calling 524-5600 if you plan to attend.
