Pope John XXIII, Still the Most Popular Pope Ever: Now That He’s a Saint
April 11, 2014Pope John XXIII, best known for convoking the Second Vatican Council, will be canonized Sunday, April 27, alongside Pope John Paul II. Papal Historian and Author Anura Guruge will present a 90-minute illustrated, interactive program to mark this occasion.
The program – which will provide an illuminating and memorial portrait of this pope’s life – is scheduled for 3 p.m., Sunday, April 13 at Taylor Community’s Woodside Building.
Mr. Guruge has been working on a new book, “Pope John XXIII: 101 Facts & Trivia.” His presentation will draw on the material gathered for the book with a heavy emphasis on the trivia and the pope’s incomparable sayings, such as the one related to the actual number of people working at the Vatican.
The author guarantees he’ll share new insights, analysis, pictures and observations. The event is free and open to the public but RSVPs are requested to ensure seating. Please call 524-5600 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, or email rsvp@taylorcommunity.org.
