Popular Musician Jon Lorentz Returns to Taylor Nov. 20
November 10, 2016Taylor Community’s 2016 Concert Series continues Sunday, Nov. 20 at 3 p.m. with a concert by the Jonathan Lorentz Quartet. The event is free and open to the public and will be held at Taylor Community’s Woodside Building. It is generously being sponsored by Joan Allison and Barbara and Win Wood.
The quartet is comprised of long-standing musical cohorts who have performed together in various scenarios for 20 years. With Lorentz on saxophone, Pianist Tom Robinson, John Hunter on bass and Drummer Tim Gilmore, the afternoon’s music will vary from jazz to classics to holiday favorites.
Lorentz has pursued music on the saxophone for the past 30 years. He also leads the Soul Revival and plays with the experimental improving band 7oddSeven. He stays active with his 18-piece big band, a 10-piece little big band as well as Dueling Pianos of NH. His company, Lorentz Music Services, provides live musicians, disc jockeys, consulting and officiating services for clients throughout New Hampshire.
Robinson is a jazz stalwart who also plays soprano sax. He tours frequently throughout New England as a leader and sideman and has been a featured artist at the Catamount Arts Center and Mountaintop Music Center. Hunter holds down bass lines for the Seacoast Big Band and Charlie Jennison Group and has accompanied Dizzy Gillespie, Slide Hampton, Clark Terry and Jimmy Heath. Gilmore is known far and wide for performances with Tiger Okoshi, Giacomo Gates and Tower of Power and is an active clinician with Harry Skoler’s Adventures with Jazz.
