OCTOBER
Friday – Oct. 26 – Peabody Essex Museum, Salem, MA In addition to many other exhibits at the museum, we’ll have the opportunity to view two special exhibits as well. “Hats: An Anthology” by Stephen Jones promises to be lots of fun to see as the viewer “explores the delightful realm of hats – wildly plumed bonnets, silk turbans, sequined caps, embroidered crowns, Sarah Jessica Parker’s lime-green fascinator and 250 other elegant and sometimes outlandish styles. Displayed with the wit and whimsy of British milliner-to-the-stars Stephen Jones, “Hats” reveals the boundless creativity of hat design and our own fascination with wearing these indescribable works of art.” Another gallery features “Golden Light,” an exhibit of Dutch and Flemish masterpieces: “Following the tremendous public and critical acclaim of PEM’s 2011 exhibition, Golden: Dutch and Flemish Masterworks from the Rose-Marie and Eijk van Otterloo Collection, the museum is proud to once again exhibit these remarkable works. The bus will begin picking up residents on the Laconia campus at 8:15 a.m. and will stop at the Concord Trailways bus station at about 9 to pick up residents for whom that is a more convenient location. The entry fee into the museum is $13 for Seniors. Moderate: Walking through the museum to enjoy exhibits. There are gallery benches to sit on; Atrium Café for lunch and relaxing.
