The Laconia Daily Sun is a free morning newspaper published five days a week covering Belknap County and the Lakes Region. Laconia Mayor Ed Engler (the original publisher) presents a lecture about the history of the newspaper at Taylor Community’s Woodside Building, Wednesday, July 12 at 6:30 p.m. This free event is open to the public.

Founded in 2000, the newspaper’s initial press run was 2,000 copies. Currently, each publication day, 18,000 copies are distributed to more than 300 locations.
