Taylor Community Elects New Trustees at 87th Annual Meeting
October 9, 2014Laconia, NH – Eight individuals were newly elected to serve as Taylor Trustees at the community’s recent annual meeting: Ron Baker, David Laffey, David Lynch and Walter Flinn, Laconia; Bradford Cook, Manchester; Adrienne Stevens, North Sandwich; David Pearlman, Meredith; and Jane Milligan, Wolfeboro.
The group joins current Trustees Paul Cotton, Rod Dyer, Carmen Lorentz, Bob Selig, Robert Smith, Thomas H. Volpe and Barbara Wood.
President and CEO Bob Selig explained the importance of having a board with depth and diversity as essential to running the organization most effectively. “Our nominating committee strategically seeks out men and women with diverse skills, knowledge and experience, which in some way relate to various aspects of community,” he said. “We have trustees with extensive experience in business, health care, finance, law and public service.”
Cook is head of the Estate Planning and Probate, Government Relations and Not-for-profit, Charitable and Religious Institution Practice Groups with Sheehan Phinney. He also represents both for-profit and not-for-profit clients before the New Hampshire Legislature and practices general corporate law. Cook writes a regular column, “Cook on Concord,” which appears in the New Hampshire Business Review.
Baker is a second-generation resident of Taylor Community. He worked at one of the U.S.’s largest corporations, serving in manufacturing, distribution, information services and executive positions, including Director of Internal Audit, retiring after 27 years. Baker also served 12 years as CEO of Geneva Point Center in Moultonborough. He and his wife, Nan, have lived at Taylor since 2004.
Laffey is Senior Vice President/Director of Capital Markets for LCS- the leading provider of management, marketing and development services for the senior housing industry, based out of Des Moines, IA. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Villanova University.
Pearlman is President of Pearlman Advisors LLC, which provides management consulting to the sports and media industries. Clients range from traditional broadcasters to professional baseball teams to new media companies representing some of the best-known brands in the business, touching three continents.
Lynch was one of the founding partners of Lynch & Denouncourt, CPA. He’s a former Director of Laconia Savings Bank and presently a Senior Director with Bank of New Hampshire. He’s a former Trustee with LRGHealthcare and a Mentor with the Laconia Better Together Mentor Program.
Flinn worked at Western Electric in various positions for nearly 30 years, going on to own Valley Graphics in Plymouth for 18 years. He was a member of the Governor’s Task Force Studying Operational Costs of Education and Member of the Massachusetts Advisory Council on Education. Flinn is currently Chair of the Facilities Committee of the Boys and Girls Club of the Lakes Region and President of the Club Board.
Milligan began her business career as an inside sales rep for Wesley Jessen, an early pioneer in the contact lens industry. In 1981 she and her husband purchased Hampshire Pewter Company, owning the company until 1991. She then signed a license agreement with Pendleton Woolen Mills and ran the Pendleton Shoppes in Wolfeboro and Newington for the next 17 years. She was also director of the original Bank of New Hampshire from 2001-2006. Her many affiliations include Wolfeboro Citizen of the Year for 2010.
In other meeting business, Taylor Incorporators for 2014 were announced as Sandra Morey; Raymond and Sally Trottier; Walter and Mary Flinn; David and Claudia Pearlman; David Laffey and Bradford Cook.
Additionally, Janet Carroll, Charles Coulter, Lauretta Dwyer, Maryann Foote, Paulette Loughlin, Joyce Ringleb, David Bell, Nancy Crutcher, Theresa Kelleher, Sandra Morey, Claudia Pearlman, Elaine Smith, Dot Faulkner, Betsy Fosburgh and Madeline McGrath were elected to the Board of Advocates (formerly called Board of Directors).
