Laconia, NH, May 1, 2012 – Taylor Community residents and their guests are enjoying the recent opening of the new Fireside Dining room and café. “This is something the residents have been asking for since I arrived almost three years ago,” said Timothy Martin, President/CEO of Taylor Community. “I am delighted, because of a very generous bequest, combined with the donations of many residents we were able to construct this new private dining room and renovated café.
The project was made possible thanks to the gift from former residents Tony and Lois Morse. “Tony had a love for cooking. He also had a love of dining with his wife Lois, friends and neighbors – so it was only fitting that his donation go toward the new dining room,” said Martin. The remaining funds were raised from Taylor’s capital campaign which included support from its residents Martin added, “Other current residents made significant individual contributions to help fund this project. It was a Taylor community effort that everyone is very proud of.”
The 750sq. ft. of “new space” is located at the Woodside building on Taylor Community’s Laconia campus. The building originally opened in 2007 and was designed with an open space café . A major part of the construction was to give residents and guests a more private dining space. The new design took the entire café area and divided it into a smaller café and the new private dining room which comfortably seats 20-25 people for dinner. At other times, the dining room and café can be combined to serve as many as 60 people at one time. Tradesmen Builders, a full service builder-designers contractor located in Laconia managed construction, and Decorative Interiors also of Laconia did the beautiful interior design.
Many residents say the room and building has been transformed, “The atmosphere feels so much warmer, very welcoming and friendly,” said Ann Hood, Taylor Community resident. “The new dining room is quieter and more conducive to a friendly, family oriented feel,” said John and Rose Gonzalez, Taylor Ledges Residents.
Many residents and guests enjoy the new dining especially on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, “We always go and it’s such an enjoyable evening sharing a glass of wine and delicious dinner with friends,” said Harriett Morse, Taylor Ledges resident. “Not to mention the new selection of desserts.”
