Taylor Community Partners With Genesis Rehab Services
October 16, 2013Liz Pomeroy, vice president, health services and organizational development at Taylor Community began looking at Taylor’s ability to provide rehabilitative support services about a year ago. She wanted to be able to provide the following services to residents on Taylor’s campus: Fall Prevention; Strength Building; Improving Balance; helping residents remain at home, remain maximally independent and return home more quickly if they required hospitalization or short term stay at a Skilled Nursing Facility.
Pomeroy listened to resident feedback and worked with many local community partners to explore these types of services for all three levels of living: Independent, Assisted Living and Nursing.
Today that exploration has paid off with a partnership with Genesis Rehab Services (GRS). Genesis has created full rehabilitation gyms in Taylor Home and Ledgeview with a dedicated rehab team. Services will be provided in residents’ rooms, around the neighborhood, or in the new rehab gym.
There is also a dedicated Clinic/Homecare team based out of the Taylor Home Rehab Clinic. This GRS team will provide preventative, outpatient clinic and in-home Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy to residents in Independent Living.
Genesis is a nationally recognized leader in rehabilitative services. “Together, we believe we will broaden the choices our residents have for providers; build a stronger infrastructure for service delivery to them in their own homes and community; build deeper relationships and enhanced opportunities with larger community providers like LRGH, and CNH VNA and Hospice, and continue to provide the highest quality retirement living option in the Lakes Region,” said Pomeroy.
