Trips for Sept and Oct 2013
August 22, 2013Please Note: There is a $5 fee charged for cancellations within 72 hours of a trip. If a trip requires pre-paid tickets or entry fees, you can’t be reimbursed if you cancel from the trip OR if Taylor needs to cancel due to weather conditions that make driving unsafe. Non-residents pay a $10 fee for going on Taylor Community trips.
SEPTEMBER
Friday – Sept. 6 – Perkins Cove and the Marginal Way. You’ll be on your own to explore all the shops located in Perkins Cove or you can just sit and enjoy the view. You can walk the entire length of the Marginal Way or just part of it. Enjoy lunch at one of the restaurants with ocean views. The bus will begin picking up residents on the Laconia Campus at 9:15 a.m. As a convenience, the bus will make an approximate 10 a.m. pick-up in Alton Bay. (Easy to Moderate – A lot of optional walking)
Friday – Sept. 13 – Browse for a unique gift at the Casual Cape Country Gift Shop. We’ll have lunch next door at “The Bob House” Restaurant and then step back in time to shop at one of New England’s most authentic, old general stores, the Moultonborough Country Store. The bus will begin picking up residents on the Laconia Campus at 10 a.m. (Easy to Moderate – some steps at the Country Store)
Wednesday – Sept. 18 – Dining out at the Lyons’ Den. You’re always welcomed back as a friend here and you can’t say enough about the delicious food and friendly service. Taylor Community residents also enjoy a 10 percent discount. The windows afford a view of the big lake and the Glendale Docks. The bus will begin picking up residents on the Laconia Campus at 4:30 p.m. (Easy)
Friday – Sept. 20 – Breakfast at Friendly’s Restaurant and then a stop at the American Police Motorcycle Museum in Meredith. This museum showcases a rich history through a timeline of motorcycles, parts and literature. This is the only museum in the country which chronicles the history of the motorcycle policeman. The feature exhibit this year will be the tribute to the Female Motor Officer which will chronicle the pioneer women who chose one of the most dangerous assignments in Law Enforcement. The bus will begin picking up residents on the Laconia campus at 8:15 a.m. (Easy)
Friday – Sept. 27 – Lunch at Brady’s American Grill and on to the Peterborough Basket Company. The Peterborough Basket Factory Outlet Store is the real thing. It’s located right inside their one and only manufacturing facility. Skilled artisans still ply the age old trade of crafting one of the world’s finest handmade baskets. Their low overhead costs allow them to pass along the savings directly to the customer. There is a wide selection of baskets and accessories as well as gift items. Make sure you check out more savings in the Factory Seconds section. The restaurant has a classic grille menu and has been listed a “Best in NH” restaurant. The bus will begin picking up residents on the Laconia campus at 9:15 a.m. The bus will make a convenience pick-up at Concord Trailways at approximately 10 to 10:15 a.m. (Easy)
Wednesday – Oct. 2 – Remick Country Doctor Museum and Farm [Moderate to Independent] The museum depicts over 200 years of New England history. You can also visit the farm animals, the Museum Store or just enjoy the scenery. Admission price of $12 includes lunch prepared right at the farm. Please have your check – made out to Taylor Community – to Sue Williams by Sept. 18. The bus will begin picking up residents on the Laconia campus at 9 a.m. (Moderate to Independent)
Wednesday – Oct. 9 – All aboard the “Turkey Train” out of Meredith, sponsored by Best of Times Travel. Enjoy the wonderful sights of New Hampshire’s changing seasons as the train travels along the shores of the lake and through wooded areas. Lunch will be catered by Hart’s Turkey Farm and will include the traditional “Thanksgiving” meal food items, topped off by a delicious ice cream sundae. Early sign-up and payment of $60 per person was due by Sept. 9 in order to secure train reservations. The bus will begin picking up residents on the Laconia Campus at 9:30 a.m. (Easy)
Wednesday – Oct. 16 – Dining out at Johnson’s Steak and Seafood Restaurant. Enjoy great food, friendly service, and let’s not forget that ice cream we all love. Taylor Community residents from Back Bay will be joining us again so please leave room at your table for a few friends. The bus will begin picking up residents on the Laconia Campus at 4:15 p.m. (Easy)
Friday – Oct. 18 – Laconia City Hall Tour. Get a glimpse of our local government at work. We will be meeting with the City Manager and Mayor. Please come with any questions that you might want answered. After our visit we will have lunch at T-Bones Restaurant. The bus will begin picking up residents on the Laconia Campus at 9:45 a.m. (Easy – Four to five steps and an elevator)
