WOW Trail Lecture with Alan Beetle
July 31, 2019Founded in 2003, the WOW Trail is a paved, 10-foot wide multi-use rail trail in Laconia enjoyed by bikers, walkers and runners of ages. The trail is named for the three lakes it will one day highlight – Winnipesaukee, Opechee and Winnisquam.
Alan Beetle, president of the WOW Trail Committee, will share the history and future of this unifying landmark and point of pride for Laconia, Wednesday, Aug. 14 at 6:30 p.m. in Taylor Community’s Woodside Building. This free event is open to the public.
The trail was built within the state of New Hampshire-owned railroad right-of-way, alongside the active tracks currently leased to the Winnipesaukee Scenic Railroad. It currently spans from Elm Street in Lakeport, to downtown Laconia and then on to the Belmont town line where it meets with Belmont’s Winnisquam Scenic Trail, thereby creating 4.25 miles of continuous trail between Lakeport and Belmont’s Osborne’s Agway.
