Pontine Theatre’s New England Christmas Production is Nov. 28
The centerpiece of this year’s New England Christmas production is Pontine’s original stage adaptation of Frank Stockton’s 1895 story, “Captain Eli’s Best Ear.” The performance is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 28 at 6:30 p.m. at Taylor Community’s Woodside Building. The event is free and open to the public.
Cap’n Eli Bunker, a retired sea captain, is inspired, after many lonely years as a widower, to try his hand at celebrating Christmas once again. After much cogitation, he conspires with his friend and neighbor, Cap’n Cephas Dyer, to mount a fitting holiday event. An orphan girl and Mrs. Trimmer, whose husband “sailed away in a schooner and never returned,” fill out the cast of this charming tale. The characters are played by a cast of beautifully crafted bunraku-style puppets.
